New campaign celebrates Birmingham Heroes
A national marketing campaign is highlighting the everyday work of people at the University, and showing how that work impacts on the lives of people in the UK and beyond.
The first adverts in the Birmingham Heroes campaign can now be seen everywhere from Virgin Trains’ customer magazine to billboards around Birmingham, and have just appeared in seven of the main London Underground stations.
The adverts feature photographs of University researchers leading fields such as cancer diagnosis and treatment, healthy ageing and clean energy, with the distinctive strapline ‘We are…’ and the impact of their work, for example: ‘We are making sure there is life after oil’.
‘The Heroes campaign is exciting because it is very different from anything we have done before,’ explains Head of Marketing, Carla Amos. ‘We are celebrating the ordinary staff that make Birmingham, Birmingham and showing how they are working to solve tomorrow’s problems today.’
The campaign aims to enhance the University’s public profile, highlight leading research figures and strengths, and show how work at Birmingham impacts on the lives of people in the UK and around the world.
‘Birmingham’s ambition to become firmly established as a premier university will be increasingly key in the growing battle both for funding and the best staff and students,’ Carla adds. ‘We hope our Heroes campaign will be a major step towards that goal.’
